I have always had a passion for nature, which started at a young age during family trips to the Kruger National Park. In later years this passion lead me to guiding in Kruger where I began to realise that the conservation of our environment was fundamentally important and often neglected. This drive for conservation resulting in me broadening my knowledge by studying ecology, conservation, and zoology at the University of the Witwatersrand up to my MSc and finally completing my PhD in ecological science at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Much of my research has focused on birds and I have always had a keen passion for birds and birding. I joined the project to assist in the conservation of Southern Ground-hornbills, with the hope that my passions and knowledge for birds and the environment will make a positive impact on this iconic species.
