CITES CoP20

This is the source of all relevant information regarding trade in African hornbills.

The 20th Conference of the Parties (CoP20) of CITES, which is an international agreement to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival was held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, at the Silkroad Samarkand Expo Center from the 24 of November to the 5th of December 2025.

During this meeting, countries discussed and made decisions on proposals to amend the appendices of CITES, which regulate international trade in a range of wild animals and plants.

Parties to the convention considered proposals to list new species in CITES Appendices I and II, which regulate their international trade. The meeting set the course for international wildlife trade regulation for the next three years.
