Research

As Southern Ground-hornbills are such a unique and complex species we can never stop learning about them, and all our conservation decisions must be based on sound scientific research to ensure what we are doing is best for the species. Therefore, we are constantly conducting our own research, from testing suitable materials for nest boxes to evaluating behavioural responses and to investigating the genetic relationships between the species’ populations across its entire range. We also encourage and support any external students or researchers with their studies on the species, as the more we know the better decisions we can make.
